Yet Another NewsWatcher is free. It may not be sold for profit or included with software or other products which are sold for profit without the permission of both Northwestern University and Brian Clark. If you redistribute the program, you must not modify the program or documentation in any way without the permission of Brian Clark, and you must distribute the complete Yet Another NewsWatcher archive containing the application, tables and plugins, scripts, and documentation.
Yet Another NewsWatcher requires at least 1700 kB of free RAM, a PowerPC processor, and System 8.5 or later. Several components that come with System 8.5, such as QuickTime 3.0 are also required. The Mac must be connected to the Internet, and Open Transport must be properly installed and configured. Yet Another NewsWatcher is available as a PowerPC application. It runs in native Open Transport mode.
For dialup use, Yet Another NewsWatcher works with the various SLIP and PPP programs, and with ARA together with an appropriately configured AppleTalk/IP gateway. It does not support older kinds of dialup connections designed primarily for simple terminal emulation. If you need a newsreader which works with older kinds of dialup connections, you must use some other program.

Yet Another NewsWatcher was developed by Brian Clark based on the original NewsWatcher application by John Norstad. If you encounter problems, PLEASE read the original NewsWatcher manual and the Yet Another NewsWatcher documents to see if the matter is discussed there. Most questions are answered in John Norstad's user document for the original NewsWatcher. In particular, see the “Getting Started” chapter for basic instructions on how to use the program, and see Appendix F for a list of “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQs) and their answers. If you don’t have a copy of the user document, you can get it via anonymous FTP.
Additional information is contained in the various user documents that accompany Yet Another NewsWatcher. Before writing or posting to ask for help or report a problem, make certain you have the most recent version of the program.
